People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Prompt Response:   Last summer, I felt totally burnt out by social media and the pressure to always be "on" for my friends. I decided to head to a quiet state park for a weekend and actually turned my phone off for once. Stepping away from the noise gave me the space to finally hear my own thoughts. I realized I’d been trying too hard to fit in, and that break taught me I’m actually much happier being my independent self. Summary: We read more from the book. Reflection:  I had homework for identifying themes.

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response:   Based on Chapter 1, McCandless seemed more focused on his ideals than the actual danger. He ignored Jim Gallien’s serious warnings about the harsh weather and lack of food. By heading into the bush with minimal gear, he showed he wasn't truly prepared for the wild. It feels like he loved the idea of adventure but didn't respect the survival risks. Ultimately, his overconfidence made him overlook how deadly Alaska can be. Summary: We were introduced to a new book that we are reading. Reflection:  We read the first few chapters.

Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response:   I had a blast using Adobe Express to bring my vocab words to life. "Vivid" clicked instantly since I just paired it with a bright, glowing sunset. "Ambiguous" was a bit of a head-scratcher, though, because it's hard to find a photo that captures "uncertainty." Coming up with my own sentences and hunting for the right images really made the definitions stick. It felt less like a chore and more like I was actually learning. Summary: We did vocab Monday Reflection:  I learned new vocab words.

After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt Response:  I think for me the hardest part was finding real life examples to make into metaphors that were true to me. A lot of those prompts were things that as a high school student I have not done or gone through yet. For example I have not found myself, discovered who I am and what I wanna do in life. That kind of thing take a lot of time and I think that most people even in college do not know who they are yet.  Summary: We watched some videos on AI and answered questions that commented on posters. Reflection:  I learned about ways to format on Adobe Express.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response:  For me when I was working on the sheet the hardest subject was making one based on self growth/development. I am not sure exactly what it was called and I do not have my sheet with me so I can't check. It was just hard because I just didn't know what to write. I had a hard time reflecting on how I have changed as a person. I feel like I would need to sit and ponder on that one for a bit. Although I don't really feel like doing that. Stay in the moment or something that, right Mr. Rease.  Summary: We put the devices onto a presentation. Reflection:  I actually really like using adobe express as a platform.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response:  I honestly didn't learn that much from the project. A lot of my devices were surface level and the others were pretty generic. I mostly wrote about stuff that I already knew. Some of the stuff I'm not sure if it was true or not yet so that could kind of apply to learning something new. I think that I would need to spend more time on the assignment to learn something new about myself. Summary: We wrote similes and metaphors  Reflection:  It was pretty easy although the metaphors took a bit longer.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response:  The break for me was time to sleep in and forget about school. I went to see my brother in college which was fun and also worked a little bit. I really enjoyed not having school work and being able to relax. I needed a break to get me to spring break. Then eventually summer break. My family also got sick so for a bit I was the only healthy one. But I was able to hangout with friends.  Summary: We just did class work. Reflection:  It was a slow chill day.
